At the exhibition "Ryuko 粒光" held at Akibatamabi 21 from November to December in 2021, I did two 30-40 minutes improvisations with Hayashi's installation "The Form What Surrounds Us".
This album consists of tracks from the latter, divided and selected deliberately by myself and randomly by Hayashi. (The former performance has been uploaded on youtube youtu.be/BVSar3j6m8I.)

Notes by Yanagisawa

Knowing that I've performed in natural surroundings, mainly in the Iizuna mountain, Hayashi casually asked me to keep the same attitude to his installation and this performance situation. I think I did it, and we also adopted an approach to the recording in the way we do to my mountain recordings. I was performing without knowing whether or not his installation was reacting to me.

About "The Form What Surrounds Us" by Nobuhiko Hayashi

Creature voice-like sounds are automatically created by the algorithm based on the concept of coevolution. They are emitted from 160 multi channelled piezoelectric speakers hung from the ceiling and people can walk among them.

アルバムについて

2021年11月から1ヶ月間アキバタマビ21で行われた展示『粒光』にて、林暢彦さんのインスタレーション作品『取り巻くものの形式』と共演し、私は即興演奏を2度行った。このアルバムは2回目の40分程度の演奏の録音を私と林さんが各々作為的または無作為に分割し選択したトラックで構成されている。(1回目の演奏はyoutubeに上げられている youtu.be/BVSar3j6m8I)

林さんは私が自然環境の中で（主に飯縄山で）演奏していることを知っており、このインスタレーション作品との演奏を「同じように」やってみませんかと提案してくださった。私はそのように演奏に取り組み、録音の扱い方に関しても山のものと同様にした。私は林さんの作品が自分の演奏に反応しているかどうか知らないまま演奏していた。

『取り巻くものの形式 The Form What Surrounds Us』について（林暢彦）

生物の声を思わせるざわめきが、生物の共進化からヒントを得て作成されたアルゴリズムによって自動生成される。音響は空間に吊り下げられた160枚のピエゾスピーカーからマルチチャンネルで放射され、鑑賞者はその内部を歩き回ることができる。
