Kokichi Yanagisawa - guitar
Recorded at the summit of Mt. Iizuna in Nagano city on December 23rd, 2019.
Equipment: Sony ICD-SX1000
Sound engineer: Nobuhiko Hayashi
Last year I started playing the guitar in Mt. Iizuna once every two or three month. Mt. Iizuna (1917m above) is popular among locals and also known as a sacred mountain for Shugendo, Japanese old syncretic religion which has ascetic practices.
I hike the trail and play the guitar somewhere if I feel like it. This is part of the recording on December 23rd 2019 and dedicated to the contrabass player Tetsu Saitoh and my friend Dylan Maida who passed away in 2019. It was windy at the summit, clouds came and went away, the temperature was 1°C according to the thermometer hung at the shrine there.
